MACON, Georgia — A Georgia House study committee examining the effects of online platforms on minors is holding its first hearing this morning at Mercer University in Macon.
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on the Impact of Online Platforms on Georgia Youth is meeting until noon today at Mercer’s University Center, 1730 Adams St.
Committee members are expected to hear testimony from Emily Brookshire, Kemberlie Sanderson, Holly Kittle, Kailey McBee and Maggie Ankratz. McBee and Ankratz are with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lookout Mountain.
The committee is evaluating how online platforms affect minors, including concerns involving mental health, safety protections and age-appropriate access to online content.
State Rep. Rob Clifton, R-Evans, chairs the committee.
