Smyrna approves $588,926 change order for Tolleson Aquatic Facility

SMYRNA, Georgia — The Smyrna City Council voted 6-0 Monday, Aug. 3, to approve nearly $589,000 in additional work for the Tolleson Aquatic Facility project, including modifications required for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The change order for contractor Reeves Young LLC covers paving, curbs and gutters, landscaping, low-voltage and security additions, and ADA-related site work.

The approved work includes $259,948.63 for parking lot modifications, $248,257.04 for low-voltage additions and $80,720.67 for ADA compliance modifications. Those items total $588,926.34.

The original construction contract was $16,228,529.69. The change order raises the contract to $16,817,456.03.

The additional cost will be covered through the city’s 2022 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program, with the project budget amended by the same amount.

City documents contain a discrepancy in the requested amount. The agenda title, cost breakdown and revised contract total reflect a $588,926.34 change order, while the recommendation section lists $608,205.67.

Ward 3 Councilman Travis Lindley represents the area associated with the project.
