Raffensperger: Primary runoff risk limiting audit confirms vote count

Beginning last Thursday, county election officials in all 159 counties in Georgia hand-counted randomly selected ballots as part of the statewide audit of the June 16th General Primary and Nonpartisan General Election Runoff, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced.

The audit was intended to confirm the accuracy of the results for the Republican U.S. Senate and Democratic lieutenant governor’s races.

U.S. Rep. Mike Collins defeated Derek Dooley to win the Republican Senate nomination. State Sen. Josh McLaurin, D-Sandy Springs, defeated state Sen. Nabilah Parkes, D-Duluth, for the Democratic nomination.

Overall, 401 batches were counted, officials said in a release. Among the hand-counted results, there was over 99.99% alignment with the machine count, which is well within the expected margin of error for hand count.
