Cobb County's drinking water met or exceeded all federal and state quality standards throughout 2025, according to the county's newly released Consumer Confidence Report.
Routine testing found no violations of federal drinking water regulations, with all detected contaminants remaining within allowable limits.
The Cobb County Water System purchases treated water from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, which draws from Lake Allatoona and the Chattahoochee River before distributing it to customers in unincorporated Cobb County and the cities of Acworth, Kennesaw, Mableton and Powder Springs.
Testing during 2025 found no violations involving bacteria, fluoride, nitrate, turbidity or disinfection byproducts. The report also says the county's service line inventory found no lead service lines or galvanized lines requiring replacement in its distribution system, though officials continue encouraging homeowners to identify plumbing materials inside their homes.
The report also includes a public notice from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, which acknowledged it missed required radionuclide monitoring after water samples collected in January 2025 were lost before reaching a testing laboratory. Officials said previous testing found no radionuclide concerns, replacement samples were collected in March 2026, and there is no action customers need to take.
