Mableton Keep Mableton Beautiful Commission aims to address illegal dumping, blight

The city of Mableton launched the Keep Mableton Beautiful Commission to improve the city’s appearance, cleanliness and environmental health.

Mableton also became an official affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, connecting the city to statewide and national networks focused on reducing litter, improving public spaces and strengthening communities.

Led by the Sustainability, Greenspace and Beautification Department, Keep Mableton Beautiful will focus on beautification, litter prevention, illegal dumping, recycling, waste reduction, environmental education and community cleanups.

Mayor Michael Owens swore in members of the new Keep Mableton Beautiful Commission on Aug. 12. Commissioners will work with city staff, residents, businesses, schools and community organizations to support projects throughout Mableton.

Through its Keep America Beautiful affiliation, Mableton gains access to training, educational resources, established programs, partnerships and competitive grant and in-kind opportunities that can expand local efforts.
