The Cobb County Police Department will hold four community town halls beginning Aug. 27 to explain how officers use Flock Safety technology and what safeguards govern its use.
Residents will have an opportunity to ask police representatives questions about the technology, including concerns about privacy, oversight and its use in Cobb County. Each meeting will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The department said the sessions will focus specifically on Cobb County's policies, safeguards and operational use of Flock Safety technology. Police representatives are expected to address common community concerns and explain how the technology is safeguarded.
The first town hall will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, at Milford Recreation Center, 675 Smyrna Powder Springs Road in Marietta. A second meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31, at Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta.
The third session will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at West Cobb Senior Center, 4915 Dallas Highway in Powder Springs. The final town hall is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15, at North Cobb Senior Center, 3900 S. Main St. in Acworth, in Kennworth Park.
All four meetings are scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The department said the meetings are intended to provide a focused discussion of how the technology operates under Cobb County's policies and to give residents a chance to raise questions directly with department representatives.
