Smyrna Public Safety Foundation awards more than $20,000 to first responders through Benevolence Fund

The Smyrna Public Safety Foundation has distributed more than $20,000 this year through its Benevolence Fund, providing financial assistance to local first responders and their families during times of injury, loss and unexpected hardship.

The fund is designed to help Smyrna police officers, firefighters and other public safety personnel when unforeseen circumstances create financial strain. Assistance is available to support families facing some of life's most difficult challenges.

Foundation leaders said the program relies on community support to continue providing aid. Donations to the Benevolence Fund help ensure financial assistance is available when local first responders need it most.

The foundation is encouraging residents and businesses interested in supporting the program to learn more about the Benevolence Fund or make a contribution through the organization's website.
